Heritage Walkathon covers rich historical, cultural, and architectural places that hold strong significance associated with heritage. It attempts to advocate and make participants and the community aware of a cause that the walkathon represents.
Rotary Club of Newroad and Rotary Club of Kirtipur jointly organized the first-ever Kasthamandap Heritage Walkathon for the awareness of Women’s Health & Empowerment. It was held on 22nd Baishak, 2080 (5th May 2023). The walkathon covered around the core and old heritage areas of Kathmandu. Participants had the opportunity to explore the heritage sites and experience the cultural beauty of the surrounding area.
The Kasthamandap Heritage Walkathon was in association with many organizations and clubs, namely: NRS Sports Foundation, Green Valley Green Nepal, Imagine Rotary, Elevate, Neelam Gahana, Rotary Club of Durbarmarg, Rotaract Club of Charumati, Rotary Club of Balaju, Rotary Club of Pashupati, Kathmandu Municipality Ward No. 19, Kathmandu Municipality Ward No. 20, and Kathmandu Municipality Ward No. 24, respectively.
The cause of this walkathon is very impactful as it is crucially important to aware the natives about women’s health and empowerment. NRS Sports Foundation strongly believes this is a powerful social cause that highlights the areas needing more priority and improvement. This event was held with the hope that it would create a broader impact by reaching a large audience and that they can understand the importance of women’s health and empowerment.
